Whether you are just visiting or you are a regular in Downtown Rome, getting that perfect photo can be a tough decision. We want to make that decision easier for you, so we have rounded up some of the best spots for photos. Chief John Ross Pedestrian Bridge
Particularly around the golden hour right before sunset, the Chief John Ross Pedestrian Bridge offers a great view and backdrop for pictures, formal or casual. With the Oostanaula River running underneath and between the Town Green and River District, the bridge is definitely a great spot to get that picture that perfectly captures Rome.
City Clocktower
One of Rome’s most iconic attractions is the City Clocktower, which overlooks Downtown Rome. To experience the view from the top and snap that rare photo, take a tour and climb to the top of the Clocktower. Check the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism website to learn about tour opportunities. All around the City Clocktower are other great places for a picture, so explore the area to find the best photo op.
Coca-Cola Mural
At the very end of Broad Street along 1st Ave is a mural featuring a weathered Coca-Cola logo. It is practically begging to have a picture taken near it. If you prefer having no mural in the picture, then the brick wall next to it will do. But we love that Instagram worthy picture with the unique mural of Georgia’s drink of choice!
Myrtle Hill Cemetery
We promise that we do not intend for you to be taking pictures with graves, but actually, Myrtle Hill provides one of the best views of Downtown Rome. While it has a wonderfully rich history, Myrtle Hill offers that perfect backdrop of the city. Please be aware, however, that the cemetery is only open from sunrise to sunset. Please be mindful and respect the space and time while you get that perfect picture!
Opera Alley
This alley was originally built for the Nevin Opera House, but can be found next to Brewhouse and provides a photo opp during the day under the arch or at night with lights hanging in the alleyway. This is definitely an exceptional spot for a picture and shows off the unique history of Rome.
Robert Redden Footbridge
Maybe you know this one as the American Flag bridge, because at night the lights create the American Flag. The footbridge crosses the Oostanaula River, offering a wonderful view of the river and Rome. This spot is a great place to walk to for a picture, whether during the day with the great landscape in the back, or at night with the glowing lights from the flag.
