Feel that little bit of crisp in the air? See those leaves starting to fall? Yes, Fall is here!
With temperatures cooling and leaves changing, it’s time for Rome to do what it does best… celebrate! And there’s no better way to welcome fall in Rome than with a weekend downtown.
Join us Friday night for RIFF’s screening of “Sweet Dreams Do Come True” – a musical memoir of veteran Nashville songwriter Verlon Thompson. A Q&A session with the director, Brent Simonds, and a live performance by Verlon Thompson himself will follow the screening. Fore more info & tickets click HERE
Saturday kicks off with the 6th Annual Fiddlin’ Fest! Fiddlin’ Fest is Downtown’s biggest event of the year, shutting down Broad Street from the Cotton Block all the way up to the 400 Block. There’s a little something for everyone – several bluegrass bands, a car show, pony rides, the vendor village and lots more! This is a FREE event thanks to our downtown businesses, so be sure to support them by shopping and eating at their establishments while at the festival.

The Roman Holiday joins Fiddlin’ Fest this year for an exciting boat ride on the Coosa River! Come aboard for a leisurely cruise with the Griddle Lickers as they play fun and soulful music. You can’t beat hanging out on a boat and taking in the sites of Rome while listening to good tunes!
This cruise will depart from the Heritage Park boat dock behind the 2nd Avenue. Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by the Roman Holiday organizers. For questions, call 706-622-6435 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Get your tickets HERE.
Did you ever watch Ghost Hunters and think “man, that’d be pretty cool to do”? If you answered yes, then do we have the perfect Saturday night for you! Rome’s Office of Tourism is hosting their “Haunted on Broad” ghost tours. Prepare to hear bone-chilling tales from Rome’s past and review spooky findings from recent investigations by the Southern Paranormal Investigators. Click here for more info & tickets!
I don’t know about you, but there’s something cozy about waking up a little late on a Sunday morning then heading downtown for brunch. From El Zarape’s brunch burger and brunch quesadilla, to Harvest Moon Café’s bottomless mimosas and menu full of southern comfort, you definitely won’t be disappointed with downtown’s options.
After you’ve filled up on eggs benedict and a few drinks (we won’t tell anyone how many), catch the last showing of Rome Little Theater’s production of Ken Ludwig’s Leading Ladies. You’ll laugh until your sides hurt as you follow the story of two down-on-their-luck Shakespearean actors, Jack and Leo, trying to pass themselves off as the long-lost nieces of a rich woman on her deathbed. The show starts at 2:30, conveniently right as brunch is ending! You can purchase tickets HERE. Be sure to check out the insta-worthy lounge while you’re at the DeSoto. Your feed will thank you.
Will we be seeing you downtown this weekend? Be sure to tag @DowntownRomeGa and use the hashtag #DowntownRomeGa. We LOVE seeing your downtown adventures!
