It’s a rainy day and there’s nothing to do downtown…
WRONG!
There is plenty to do downtown on a rainy day! We’re here to help you out and give you all our secrets!
First, there’s the Rome Area History Center! There’s always something new in there and most importantly it’s FREE! Take a stroll through Rome’s past and catch up on history. And of course, it drops you off at the Georgia’s Rome Gift Shop with all types of fun Rome memorabilia and local artist’s work!
Speaking of shopping, there’s always that option. You need rain gear? Blue Sky Outfitters, Canoe House, and several other of our shops can certainly help you out! Have a formal event coming up, try Top Hat Formal Wear! Want a good book to read during this rainy spell? Dogwood Books is the place to go! Love thrifting? Check out Yellow Door Antiques, Sassy Salvage, and the Traveling Gyspsies Kava Den.
Rain has you a little cold? Grab a coffee! Of course, there’s Swift & Finch that makes their own from start to finish! But then there’s Combat Market that supports veteran-owned coffee and Sharp Sickle that is missionary owned and supported.
Running around in the rain has you hungry? Downtown has PLENTY of options. Of course, Blossom Hill Burgers & BBQ and Moe’s Original BBQ have large patios to sit out and enjoy the rain.
Maybe you’d rather have a drink – how about a wine tasting? Check out Newby’s Tasting Room with their locally made wine or Olea’s Olive Oil and Wine with their everchanging wine menu. Riverside Gourmet also has a huge wine selection and hosts wine tastings.
Downtown on the weekend? Don’t forget about the Roman Chariot – it even has flaps that roll down for the rain!
